Confession of a Shopaholic 2

Confession of a Shopaholic 2

On February 15th I wrote my first Confessions of a Shopaholic article about my search for a pair of acid-wash ripped jeans. The pair I really wanted was on my post Fashion: The Skinny Jean for Spring 2009. Unfortunately these jeans are very hard to find in my area. Those of you in New York, Chicago or LA will probably have a better time finding them.

Last Sunday, February 22nd, I rushed to Macys for a ½ hour power shop before they closed. In there Junior Department I found some Roxy Brooks Destroyed jeans….there were none in the misses departments. Went to INC for a top and headed to the dressing room with minutes to spare. When it came to checking out my card didn’t work (another story), so I ran out to my car to get my other one and when I came back they were cashing out their registers. So disappointing.

And yet so determined….ok so there is a chance I have a shopping obsession or Oniomania. (Oniomania is from Greek onios = "for sale," mania = insanity it is a medical term for the compulsive desire to shop. Oniomania is the technical term for the compulsive desire to shop, more commonly referred to as compulsive shopping, compulsive buying, shopping addiction or shopaholism.)…. the very next day I went to another Macys and of course they didn’t have the same pair of jeans, but similar and a size smaller.

I tried them on with the same INC top as yesterday, plus a dress that was 30% off (originally 79.00), a cute top that was discounted to $17.00 and a tank for $10. Even though I wasn’t satisfied with the jeans I bought them thinking I could take them back to the original Macys and switch them, as they were the same price. With a 20% coupon all items totaled $148.00

But….on my way down the mall, I spotted some Boyfriend 77 Destroyed jeans in American Eagle Outfitters window display. So I tried some on and they were $8.00 less then the Macys pair and more my size. Back I went to Macys and returned the first pair. Luckily I had the same cashier and she completely understood.

My guy really liked my holey jeans and we ended up going out for the night and had a really good time.

Now if I could only find those fab shoes she is wearing…………..

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I had to go to this movie; Confessions of a Shopaholic last Friday, the 13th of February and it was a bit depressing, but cute (definitely a girlie movie) and predictable.

I can believe the fact that we can get ourselves in a bind using plastic and a few of us do have creditors breathing down our necks, but in todays world I must confess it has to do with just living and not living with designer clothing. Though it must be nice to wear Prada, Gucci, etc. , but the average Jill ( my female version of the average Joe) doesn't buy these name brands...more like Anne Klein, Tommy, INC, Jones of New York..yada yada yada... But never the less, these clothes can add up too. Believe me I know.

I can't deny it, I am a bit of a shopaholic..love to shop and think it is a must to have the latest look even if its one or two pieces I can mix up with last years styles. And good thing too a few of last years styles are going to be in for this spring and summer too.

I went to TJ Maxx just last night looking for some acid wash, torn skinny jeans that I posted about just yesterday. Disappointed only to find slightly torn wide leg jeans, I passed, but still left the store with a silk skirt originally priced at $188.00 discounted to $35.00, couple of tops on sale one $5.00 to go with a sweater I bought the last time and the other $13.00 a must, to go with the new skirt, oh and a top/jacket set by Jones of New York for St Pats Day originally $114.00 down $55.00. With my $10.00 coupon, all for the bargain price of $100.00

Now I know I didn't need any of that stuff and to top it off I maxed my TJ Maxx card, bummer. A lot of the time it is the anticipation, just like anything else that gives us the high about shopping. Does it replace something else missing in our lives? Does it make us feel better to turn heads and make other Jills envious? I don't know.

Keeping up with the Jills can stretch our budgets to the max. Luckily because of the economy the stores are having great sales. So even if we have to have something new to spice up our wardrobe we can find some great deals or maybe like in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic we can find a rich man.

PS. Now I just hope that eBay doesn't sell the wardrobe from the movie, cause that would be bad:(
