With summer in full swing, it’s tough to imagine but back-to-school shopping will be here sooner than we think. Happily, Madonna is giving us something to look forward to with Material Girl, the junior’s collection that the mega-star is designing with her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon (a.k.a. Lola). The just-released sketches of the fall 2010 collection, which is set to debut on August 3, definitely got us excited for the adorable mix of flirty minidresses, cute accessories, skinny jeans, and on-trend jackets, which will retail for an affordable $12 to $40 exclusively at Macy’s and macys.com. Almost makes us wish it was August already! Only a few more weeks to go!Tell us: Are you excited to shop Madonna and Lola’s Material Girl collection? –Marissa Patlingrao Cooley

NEW YORK (CBS) Taylor Momsen is going from "Gossip Girl" to Material Girl. The actress, who plays good-girl-gone-bad Jenny Humphrey on the CW series, has been revealed as the face of Material Girl, the juniors clothing line for Macy's co-designed by Madonna and her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon.

A promotional image for the line shows Momsen in a striped skirt and gray top, complete with leather boots and loads of silver bangles.

Momsen's grungy, rocker style seems to fit the clothes, but the 16-year-old actress is often photographed smoking cigarettes and has said she has no intention of wanting to be a role model for her fans and some have wondered whether critics will protest her appointment as the face of a tween-oriented line.
Leon, who has become a budding fashionista as she's grown up and even blogged about her love for vintage shops, Oxford shoes and '80s fashion on the clothing line's website, could easily have modeled the line herself. Maybe her famous mother said no to going in front of the camera?

2010 Fall Trends: Ankle Socks

We're seen ankle socks in sandals last season, but now since the Fall/Winter 2010/2011 season in fashion has already started, seems likes sandals are replaced by ankle-boots, yet still the socks remain. They come a bit different, but what's your take? How long will this trend remain? Until then, let's see all about it.

A major sensation was brought up last season in Spring/Summer 2010 collections when the major trend that took over the runway, was the socks into sandals. We sure loved it, and not long after that, the street style did too. Everywhere this summer we are going to see socks even if the sun is up all day. There's no true fashionista that hasn't already tried out this trend. It sure is a hate it or love it idea, but still we say to keep it for these seasons as long as you know how to wear it. Don't know yet? Well we are going to show you next all about it.

Not anyone can pull off a trend like this one, and seems that the socks into sandals or ankle-boots is here to stay for the next season too. For summer it may be useless but for fall it's not like that. We love it, but we hate people that don't know how to wear it.

A major problem that comes with this trend is that unfortunately, the short girls are disadvantaged by wearing socks into sandals or ankle-boots because it cuts a lot out of the overall look. Also the ones with a few pounds extra come in the same situation, because it adds a lot of attention on the feet. You need to be skinny and tall to wear them.

If you're a shortie, yet still you love this trend, there is a way to look good in them if you style them up right. Take a short casual dress and a pair of killer pumps plus those socks and you are good to go. Don't forget about the accessories of course. Try to not use anything oversized, like the dress, clutch, necklaces etc. Straighten your hair too, because that will make your outfit look fluid and make you look taller. Try to avoid wearing those ankle-socks with shorts, skirts, belts over dresses and choose an outfit with very less details.

Diet Coke Shrek Alice in Wonderland Nail Polish

Coca-Cola is teaming up with Nails Inc. to create a Diet Coke “city” collection of nail polishes.

Each nail color is inspired by the four fashion capitals: London, Paris, New York, and Milan. Nude represents London’s cool an classic fashion, the deep purple supposedly depicts a sunset in Paris, New York’s fuchsia shade portrays the city that never sleeps, and Milan is, of course, a fiery Italian red color that also looks like pasta sauce. The nail polish will retail for about $15 per bottle.

OPI is really getting into the whole Hollywood collaboration game.  90210, then Alice In Wonderland and now Shrek?  Granted it’s not the first time they’ve gone down this path (Legally Blonde 2) and they’ve certainly embraced Broadway (All Shook Up, Holiday On Broadway) but so many film & television themed collections in such a short span.  Makes me wonder if they’re running out of ideas or really wanting to up their marketing game.  Not that OPI needs it.  I mean, even people that NEVER polish their nails know OPI.
Regardless, a collection based on a big, GREEN ogre is so up my alley.  It’s guaranteed to have some fun and funky shades.  None of those boring reds like the 90210 polishes and Off With Her Red!.  As first reported by Chic Profile the collection includes:

opi alice in wonderland collection 264x300 OPI Alice In Wonderland Collection Swatches & ReviewAbsolutely Alice did absolutely nothing for me in the collection promo pics but on the nail, WATCH OUT!!  Mingling amongst the eye catching royal blue glitter are pops of gold, the color of Alice’s blonde locks.  It adds a whole new dimension to what would otherwise be just another blue glitter.  It’s truly dazzling although because this is just a whole mess of glitter suspended in a clear base, you need three coats to achieve opacity and at least one thick layer of Seche Vite to avoid a grainy finish.

I tried very hard to show you the actual color but these images are still a little off.  I went looking for a similar base shade in another polish for reference and the closest I can find is Color Club Sexy Siren glitter though Absolutely Alice is a touch deeper and more blue.

Mad As A Hatter is one big confetti party encapsulated in polish.  Think Lippmann’s Happy Birthday but with smaller, round micro-glitter.  As I roll my nails in the light, I see a rainbow of colors that come together to make me think of New Year’s Eve. In fact as I was staring, mesmerized by the effect, all I could think was how I HAVE to wear this on NYE next week.  What impressed me is the density of the glitter.  With three coats I had no bald spots.

I took this photo under artificial light hoping to capture even a hint of its sparkle factor but this is definitely one color that benefits from being seen in person.
opi-mad-as-a-hatter-opi-alice-in-wonderland-swatch
Thanks So Muchness! is a berry red metallic shimmer.  As you apply it, you can see those telltale lines that indicate the shimmer is pearlized.  Though flecks of red micro-glitter that are randomly dispersed throughout the polish, hide that from the casual observer.  The formula is smooth and well pigmented requiring a standard two coat application.

Off With Her Red! is a tomato red creme.  It applies well and is completely opaque, achieving bottle color in two coats, but it doesn’t stand out. I get that red is an integral part of the Alice in Wonderland color story but I personally feel this one is a throwaway.  It’s a fine color and all but I would rather see something based on the Cheshire Cat or Caterpillar.

Lace and Leather Looks for Fall 2010

Suits, lace and leather – these trends, and others, all add up to surprisingly wearable Fall/Winter 2010 collections.
ARE designers playing safe for Fall? Yes, and no.

Fashion tends to follow the dictates of the economy and is a reflection of our times. That’s why you can sort of chart the economy through hemlines, they say: if the economy’s up, so are hemlines; if it’s not so healthy, we’ll be wearing long skirts. But there will always be designers who will be different, which is what makes fashion fun and unpredictable!

So this season, apart from the noticeable wearability of clothes as seen at Prada and Celine, you get some geometric and graphic pieces from Balenciaga, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Zac Posen.

Generally, most designers have emphasized tailoring, with the focus, this time around, being on what people could actually wear – it’s not easy to translate fantastical runway clothes into everyday wear but several collections managed it quite well for Fall/Winter 2010.
Bottega Veneta
Marc Jacobs, for one, had a safe collection, as did Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. Celine, under Phoebe Philo, is already a byword for perfect pieces to complete and complement an existing wardrobe; Gucci also brought out a collection of lovely, wearable clothes.

There are some things that will always remain true in Fall, though: leather and fur are still key trends and there was, as always, plenty of glamour and sparkle as well as a lot of richness in texture and fabric.

If Spring/Summer 2010 featured light leather in nude shades, Fall/Winter goes back to black leather.
It was like a roll-call of brands with leather: Bottega Veneta, Dior, Balmain, Hermes and DKNY offered everything from trench coats to trousers in leather. And yes, the all-leather look is something to think about for Fall.
Balenciaga
Fur is something that will always appear during Fall/Winter, and Chanel was prominent in displaying it in coats, trimming and boots (see our round-up of Fall/Winter accessories, All or nothing, right).
Lanvin also featured fur along with Michael Kors, who fur-trimmed his clutches.

The military trend is still going strong, we’re obviously not done with it yet; this was seen at Burberry, which had military coats and aviator-style jackets, and Max Mara, which offered that classic combination of trench coats and boots.

Minimalism was back in the forefront, this time with a more sophisticated style.

The emphasis was very much on the quality of the luxurious fabrics, so the perfect cut and tailoring were very important. Frida Giannini of Gucci came out with a collection you could build an entire wardrobe on.
These two trends combined to produce collections full of classical looks and wearability, as seen from the trousers, great tops, and the perfect pea coat from Phoebe Philo at Celine; even Marc Jacobs came out with a collection from which you could pick classic pieces.

Another trend was suits. There was Alexander Wang and his deconstructed pinstripe suits; Stella McCartney showcased some great suits while Bottega Veneta had an amazing all-leather one; Dolce & Gabbana had beautifully-cut jackets and even Diane Von Furstenberg, that grande dame of dresses, did suits!

Lace was another favourite trend, with Burberry showing off lace skirts and blouses and Dolce & Gabbana and Givenchy also adding lashings of lace.

Also look for more feminine clothes this coming Fall/Winter: Christian Dior had plenty of chiffon and ruffles and Versace sent out fitted and short dresses along with elegant long ones as well.

Louis Vuitton had curves in the forefront with a collection of corsetted dresses with full skirts. Draping as always was a prominent feature in collections from Alexander Wang, Halston, Lanvin, Narcisco Rodriguez and Rodarte, to name a few.  Designers used velvet as well as metallics for that all-important shine.
If you like capes, there are plenty to choose from, long or short; Phillip Lim showcased several, Marc Jacob’s had one in shearling, and Alexander Wang had a long version.

And the colour for this season? Black, of course! Elegant, simple and perfect

The Makeup Style for You

By Jessica Oniell

The cool eye makeup style is one that should be considered overall. The design of the look you are trying to achieve should be complimentary of each other. Colors that go together and do not overpower each other should be used. Applying the makeup and the mood you want to set as well as where you are going should be considered. There are ways to create the look you want using your makeup.

Tips On Smokey Eyes/Dramatic Makeup Emphasize beyond the eyes by using a shimmer or something that would make the entire look glowy. Make the application of eye liner a bit bolder and extend bit. Try applying eye lines on the upper and lower lids, and smudge light eye shadow under the lower lashes to make it appear softer. This will look great with nude tones for the cheeks and the lips.Try using different colors (aside from those that you usually use) and apply coats of mascara on the lashes. Shimmer shadows and metallic eye shadows are what make it look more dramatic, so try experimenting on these options.

Use colors that you do not normally use and use a couple of coats of mascara to enhance the lashes. The use of metallic or shimmer eye shadows are going to make the look much more intense so using these two items to experiment may give you some great ideas.

A Vintage Look is What You Desire , A Few Quick Tips One thing that definitely makes you look vintage is red lipstick so try a bright color red for the ultimate sexy look. The eyebrows will be the next thing to work on. They should be shaped, thinned and arched. A brow sealer can be used and the shaping of the eyebrows should be considered to create the professional look you want. There should be a dark color blush or one that matches the skin tone used and brushed upward high on the cheekbones.

Emo/Scene Look The emo or scene look is defined by think eye liner makeup, since it emphasizes the eyes and portrays either a sad or afraid look.

Place dark eye shadows on the eye lids which will emphasize the eyes even more. Another color to choose can be red. Apply black mascara to accentuate the eyes. Use dark lipstick (such as black, violet or gray) to complete the look. You can also use nude colors. Do not use bright colors as it will change the look.

Natural Makeup Use light shades, depending on your skin tone. To achieve this look, you should know what looks best on you. Light makeup gives you a soft and natural look. Avoid applying too much eye liner. If possible, do not apply eye liner at all as it makes the overall look heavier.

Light tinted lipsticks with just a hint of gloss are desirable. The blush should be pale - use just enough to give a natural healthy glow to your look.Eye makeup should be done to fit the event you are attending, your characteristics and the skin tone. Cool styles of eye makeup are great for creating a natural look as long as they are not used in excess.

Aqua Elements:Great Makeup that Looks Good with Anti-Aging Ingredients

By Jake Wakefield

There are a variety of make-up lines out there, especially mineral make-up lines that offer a wide range of benefits. It can be hard to know which line to choose.

However, there is one line that stands above the rest and that make-up is Aqua Elements. One of the biggest edges that Aqua Elements have over its competitors is its use of water.

Other brands employ minerals that often leave your skin dry and looking bad. Because Aqua Elements utilizes water, your skin will feel comfortable and will look good.

Additionally, Aqua Elements will go on smoother because of this water element and it will definitely not clog your pores. If you are used to the shiny white look that mineral powders leave behind, you will be pleasantly surprised by Aqua Elements because it does not leave this effect at all.

Especially if your skin is too dry or if you find that your skin is showing signs of aging, you will find that Aqua Elements is an excellent choice to combat these problems. It will never look like you have put too much make-up on and will always leave you feeling comfortable.

Additionally, Aqua Elements was designed to work with any skin type. It also employs anti-aging ingredients which can reduce the signs of aging and fight it at the same time.

Other benefits include the fact that Aqua Elements can strengthen collagen and elasticity because its main ingredient is moisture.

Additionally consider that Aqua Elements is full of Vitamin C, iron and other important contents and you will see why Aqua Elements is such a great make-up line.

So, if you want a great mineral makeup line that will have you looking great and allow your skin to be comfortable, definitely check out Aqua Elements.

Makeup trends this fall are very diverse so take a peek at one of this fall season's top makeup styles so you can determine if this makeup style suits you!

2010 seems to be one of the most interesting years when it comes to makeup as a variety of different styles have been set as trends. The new fall 2010 makeup trends are absolutely spectacular and diverse in order to suit the style of the outfits as well as the season perfectly.

One of the new fall makeup trends that manages to stand out from the others and attract attention through its simplicity is the fall 2010 minimal makeup trend, a trend which suits everyone and which is trying to emphasize natural beauty with as little makeup as possible.

Choosing the perfect makeup means paying attention to a variety of details such as skin tone, facial features, event attended, outfit, as well as age, and the new minimal makeup trend can be a great option as it meets all the above stated criteria.

In order to ensure you make the right choice when it comes to makeup try the following minimal makeup styles featured on some of the most important fashion presentation or the 2010 autumn/winter season:

Versace fall 2010 makeupGucci fall 2010 makeup

Soft eye makeup
Choosing to draw attention towards the eyes in a subtle and elegant manner can aid your natural beauty greatly, and makeup artists managed to show exactly how much a subtle soft eye makeup can make a difference. Contouring the eyes with an eyeliner or applying a soft, nude color eyeshadow on the eyelids, an eyeshadow which doesn't have a vibrant coloration, can help create a warm, soft and lovely look, a look suitable for women of all ages.

A flawless skin complexion is the key to the success of this type of makeup so try to cover up any imperfections of the skin using a concealer if necessary and a small amount of skin foundation.

The eyelashes can be coated with a black or brown colored mascara to give the final touches to the look and the lips are kept bare or enhanced with a flesh colored lipstick.

Fendi 2010 fall Max Azria 2010 fall Nina Ricci fall 2010Prada 2010 fall makeup

Bare eyes makeup
Drawing attention to other facial features than your eyes can be a great option especially if those facial features help enhance your beauty. Keeping the eyes bare and the makeup at a minimum level can look great; all you need to do is put into value your best facial features, other than your eyes such as the cheekbones. You can apply a foundation to cover up any imperfections of the skin and choose to enhance either your lips of your cheekbones.

If you are not into lip color or blush go for a totally minimalistic look just keep in mind that this look only works if you have a flawless skin complexion.

Choose the best makeup style for you and experiment until you discover which type of makeup suits you best. resource; http://widbox.com/fall-2010-minimal-makeup-trend/f2522/
