Mineral Makeup Application Tricks

By Stacey Johnson

So you are one of the many women who carries mineral makeup in her purse. But do you know how to apply it correctly? Only about one fifth of women know how to wear their mineral makeup correctly. Unlike traditional foundations and blushes, there are some added steps you must keep in mind. Not to worry, you'll be an expert by the end of this article!

The Secret to Successful Mineral Makeup Application

Many are willing to teach how to apply mineral makeup. But, they often forget to mention how to get your skin ready before application. You need a good cleanser and an effective moisturizer to make you appear more glowing with your mineral makeup.

Use a good cleanser to clear out your pores. Scrub your face softly with a washcloth to scrape off any old skin flakes. Finish up by rinsing your face completely clean with cold water.

You'll want to moisturize with a small bead of your favorite moisturizer. Rub it evenly all over your face and be sure that it is completely soaked up before continuing. Finish off by concealing and blemishes. Use a concealer that matches your shade as closely as possible and lightly touch and blend and areas you want to hide.

How to Apply Your Mineral Makeup Foundation

Now that you've properly prepared your skin for the mineral makeup, the application process is probably not much different that you've seen in any other instructions. Prepare a small portion of the foundation in a small dish, or the lid of the foundation jar, and dip your brush into it to pick up some of the powder.

Try to brush off the excess powder by whirling your brush around the lid so that you'll get the exact amount you need. Start applying it on your jaw line to know if you are putting the right shade on your face. This should be followed with an outside application while trying to work your way in. Remember to keep on blending until you get the desired natural look. Keep in mind that "a little goes a long way" in mineral makeup application.

For the finishing touches you can use your favorite blush-on and eye shadow. Mineral or not, the application is the same. Apply the eye shadow starting on the outside and working your way in, just as with the foundation. Use the blush-on to accentuate your cheekbones however you prefer.

There are several sites offering new techniques on how to apply mineral makeup. You simply have to try each method of application and see if it works for you. With patience, you can be a pro in mineral makeup application.
