How to Cook Perfectly Fried Food with a Deep Fryer

By KC Kudra

A lot of people have never used a deep fryer but deep fried food is a wonderful treat that most of us love to savor from time to time. Deep-frying is actually an easy cooking method when you know how to do it and a deep fat fryer is the safest and cleanest way of deep-frying your food.

How to Deep Fry Food

You need to read all the instructions that came with the machine because different fryers work in slightly different ways. You will also need to have the right cooking oil because these give different results too.

Pour the oil into the deep fryer, keeping it below the max fill line if there is one. Check the instructions if there is no such line. You need the oil to be deep enough to cover the food you put into the fryer but not so deep, that it will run over the sides when you submerge your food.

There will be a temperature control on the machine, either a button or a knob. Some fryers let you know when the oil has reached the right temperature but if your machine does not have this feature, you will need to use a thermostat or drop a cube of crustless white bread into the fryer. If it turns golden brown after one minute, the oil is at the right temperature for deep-frying.

Using the right temperature oil means the food does not absorb much oil. If the oil is too cool, the food will come out soggy. If it is too hot, the food will burn on the outside before the inside is done.

Add the food carefully, using a slotted spoon or tongs if your fryer does not have a basket. Do not overcrowd the fryer or the food will absorb too much oil. The food cooks quickly so you can deep fry in batches and the cooked food stays hot.

If you are adding frozen food to the fryer, brush off as many ice crystals as you can because they can cause spattering. If your fryer has a lid, close it to prevent spattering. Keep an eye on the clock because deep-frying is very quick. Use the slotted spoon or basket to remove the cooked food. After cooking, you can drain your food on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Deep Fried Chicken Recipes

Chicken is an incredibly popular food for deep-frying recipes because the results are so good. Deep-fried chicken made at home is just as good as a KFC chicken dinner and it works out cheaper to make your own.

In addition, you are not limited to the KFC side dish options at home. You can make whatever you like to go with your fried chicken, such as baked beans and mashed garlic potatoes or a chili dipping sauce or anything else you fancy.

If you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, a deep fryer will be your best friend because you can make delicious fried chicken recipes whenever you want to, in the comfort of your own home. Deep-frying is a safe and simple cooking method and the results come out perfectly.
