Oh My God! Do Eyelashes Grow Back?

By Kate Minogue

Like all hairs on our body, eyelashes go through growth cycles. This means that individual hairs fall out all the time without us knowing about it.

In older people, the normal eyelash growth cycle which lasts from two to eight weeks can take even longer.

It may look like their eyelashes are falling out in clumps. This may be due to aging, ill health, or physical irritation.

If your hair follicles are merely shocked and not permanently damaged, then your eyelashes will grow back once your body is healthy enough to support them.

Lashes that fell out because of ill health will come back once the underlying illness or malnutrition is taken care of.

If you lost your eyelashes because they were yanked out, then as long as the follicle isn't damaged, your lashes will grow back as soon as it ends the dormant state.

In both cases, an eyelash stimulator product will lengthen the growth period of your lashes. This gives the hairs a chance to grow longer and stronger for a greater amount of time.

Eyelash growth serums like LiLash are easy to use. Just apply them to your lash line like eyeliner under your makeup and you'll start to see results in just weeks.

Use LiLash twice a day, to get double the effects in half the time. LiLash is formulated with mild ingredients so even people with sensitive eyes can achieve luscious looking lashes.

Tips For Dry Skin

By Lee Reid

If you have dry skin, you should take the necessary steps to correct the situation. If you let this condition linger, you could cause serious damage to your skin.

Climate conditions, hormonal changes and harsh exfoliation are all causes that have proven to be related to dry skin. In some cases, dry skin can be caused by other skin related problems that you may be experiencing. However, fear not, as there are simple solutions to solve your dry skin problem.

It is common knowledge that the care of dry skin begins with using moisturizers. The majority of moisturizers are classified into two areas, based upon how they treat dry skin.

General skin moisturizers are those that work by retaining the moisture that is already in your skin. These type of moisturizers create a type of shield to keep the moisture in your skin. They are often priced very cheap and can easily be found at local supermarkets and drug stores.

Another type of skin moisturizer works by taking moisture from the air and adding it to your skin. This skin care treatment has been known to work wonders for those living in areas that are very high in humidity.

These types of moisturizers that offer dry skin care protection using this method are also known as humectants. The most effective humectants are those that are as grease free as possible. A combination of ingredients such as urea, glycerin, propylene glycol and hyaluronic acid are common elements found inside of better humectants.

Dry skin care is not about just using moisturizers but also using them properly. The best dry skin care procedure is to cleanse the skin before the application of moisturizer.

You can make your dry skin care even more effective by applying the moisturizer while the skin is still damp after cleansing. Also, make sure that you use soap-free products, especially on your face, neck and arms. Exfoliation does help in dry skin care, by removing the dead skin cells. However, don't exfoliate too hard.

Wearing White: Pay Attention to Fabric, Weather Fall 2009

It's an old-school rule that you shouldn't wear white after Labor Day, but even the newfound fashion freedom to wear light colors in cooler weather comes with some strings attached.

When summer really is turning into fall, it's time to re-evaluate the fabrics in your closet. Linen should get packed away first — and it doesn't really matter what color it is, says designer Shoshanna Gruss.

"You wouldn't wear a strapless sundress if it were white linen or black linen in the fall," she says. "Summer clothes are summer clothes, but, colorwise, it's more interesting and fun to play with your wardrobe and not leave any color out."

Her quick replacement for that cocktail-party sundress would be a brocade, which she says would look stunning in a creamy white and probably complement most skin tones in the process. Indian summer and early fall is when many people look their best with just a hint of a golden glow, and a rich white will just show that off, Gruss says.

Considering the Little Black Dress is so famous — and so popular — the woman who wears the Little Winter White Dress has the chance to be the first one noticed in a crowded room, adds Kelly Golden, owner of the upscale store Neopolitan in Winnetka, Ill. "The right shade of winter white is flattering on everyone. It looks rich," she says.

When it comes to pants, Gruss will be switching to winter-white wool, probably paired with a jewel-tone sweater, or, even better, a chocolate-brown top.

Don't put away white denim, though, says Suze Yalof Schwartz, executive fashion editor at large at Glamour. Nothing is more chic than white jeans in the wintertime with a chunky cozy sweater or a blazer and leather boots, she says. That will look "very Michael Kors."

Stefani Greenfield, the owner of Scoop boutiques and designer of the Curations collection for HSN, makes the case for a Jackie Onassis-inspired outfit: a black turtleneck with those white jeans, animal-print ballet flats and either a cuff bracelet or pendant necklace.

(Either way, Yalof Schwartz warns against too-tight white jeans, but that applies year-round, and undergarments should be flesh-tone not white, which might show.)

A shot of white, maybe a turtleneck under a sweater or a white shirt under a cardigan, can also have a slimming effect in the way a black vertical stripe does on a bathing suit. Mixing a few tones of white in the same outfit can be very cool, adds Patrick Robinson, creative director at Gap.

Yalof Schwartz likes a white sweater dress worn with dark, opaque tights. White legwear is almost always a no-no, however.

Greenfield prefers the purity of white, so she recommends staying away from prints and wearing it instead with tonal solid-color pieces, especially camel and oatmeal. To her, navy-and-white combinations scream "spring."

As long as you can keep it clean, white outerwear is a way to make a striking and stylish statement, says Greenfield, who has both a white down vest and white ski jacket — which she alternates as her cold-day "uniform." "There are ways to wear white after Labor Day and not stick out like a sore thumb."

A white cashmere-blend coat over a black dress is a perfect package, adds Golden. The brightness, she says, can give a needed punch to a fall fashion season that's dominated by dark colors.

One no-white rule does still apply, though, according to Yalof Schwartz: No matter the time of year, don't wear it to a wedding unless you are the bride.

5 Fall 2009 Must Have Accesories

thegroveeffect.com

What accessories do you need for this season to look chic and stay warm at the same time?

Everyone wants to know the latest fashion trends for this upcoming Fall/Winter season. Here it is, the top five accessories for the season.

1. Colorful Scarves

I'm sure we all remember our moms telling us as children to put a scarf on before we go outside in the winter. Not only are scarves an easier way to keep warm, they are also a quick way to brighten up a plain outfit with vibrant colors and designs.

2. Chain Handle Bags

Yes, the smaller bags are coming back in style. Whether or not we want to admit it, we all remember how much easier it is to find something in your smaller satchel rather than the over loaded totes we use now. This season look out for satchel bags with chains as handles.

3. Vibrant Colored Leather Gloves

Make your everyday standard black pea coat stand out with a vivid pair of solid leather gloves. Wear colors like a bold shade of red or a rich shade purple to emphasize the elegance of your outfit.

4. Low Little Belts

Wrap your waste this season with a slimmer sized belt. The lowered thin belts feature a more modern take on a figure-flattering style. Pay attention for fine details to capture the eye.

5. Platform Bootie Shoes

I think it is safe to say the infamous Australian Uggs will not be returning again for this Winter season. As popular and comfortable as they may have been, it is time for a new trend. Look out for the chunky ankle type boots this season. The feminine crafted style adds more of an edge to any outfit.

Who Else With Curly Hair Needs Styling Pointers?

By Suzan K Bishop

Do you need some words of wisdom for surviving curly hair? If so you've come to the right place.

For one, curly hair needs to have layering of some sort in order to eliminate weight and help boost overall volume. Doing so will help it be both better behaved and easier to maintain.

Any styling product is best applied to slightly damp strands. You want to work conditioner up from the ends with the help of a wide tooth comb. And once your hair had dried, avoid touching it as much as possible. You got it. Keep your fingers away from your hair or risk frizz creation.

Frizz vs Curls Defined: 10 strands in sync are a curl. 10 strands off on their own is annoying frizz.

Here's a smart move. You're better off showing not telling when trying to convey to your stylist what haircut you desire. It's the ole "a photo is worth 1000 words" kind of thing, you know? I'm sure you realize this yet many cheerfully ignore this bit of advice.

Generally it is better to have your curls cut when they are dry. That way the stylist can see how they stack up, so to speak, and can cut appropriately. However if cut when wet you risk having too much cut off - because as you know as curls dry they shrink.

Have you given shoulder length curly locks a chance? I ask because this is a length flattering to all face shapes and it works particularly well with curly hair. Reason being the length adds some weight which helps you maintain control.

Moisturizing conditioning is important. Because curly hair is dry to begin with and tends to break easily as a result. Guess you could say much like cats crave catnip your curly locks crave moisture. So when you get right down to it, your hair can't help but benefit from regular conditioning.

Curly hair should never be brushed.

Even though it is smart to shampoo less often you still want to condition your curls regularly. Aside from that, grab your spritzing bottle to mist your hair in the morning to encourage your curls to spring back to life.

Curly hair care really comes down to controlled chaos in may ways, doesn't it? Sure curls like to have fun and all. You just want that to happen I a predictable fashion. Hopefully this list of curly hair care tips and advice will let you do so with less fear and less stress.

Dating in the Dark - do looks really matter?

examiner.com

I absolutely love this show! This week was another great episode of "Dating in the Dark". It is unfortunate that as a society so much is placed on outward appearances. This type of thinking has led to young women struggling with eating disorders and people spending millions of dollars into the Cosmetic Surgery world. Unfortunate but real to life.

This week's Dating in the Dark experiment was full of sexual attraction, competition, making out... and rejection. If you haven't seen the show it goes like this. Three ladies and three men enter the house for four days. They go through a series of activities that helps them choose a partner they are interested in. During those four days they go on dates with anyone of the potential suitors. They are even given compatibility tests and matched up with who science would choose as their perfect mate. The catch?

Anytime they meet their potential partner it is in a room that is so dark they can't even see their fingers in front of their faces. It is only on the fourth day, after they have gotten to know each other in the dark and chosen the partner they would be most interested in dating that they get to SEE what they look like. But it doesn't end there. Once they have the opportunity to SEE their potential love interest they have to decide if they are still interested in the individual. This is where it gets interesting. The partners pick their favorite based on what is inside and decide to keep seeing them based on their looks. Would it surprise you that looks wins out many times? This week was a perfect example of how looks could kill.

The participants were; Megan, Jennifer, and Sasha for the ladies and Phillip, Billy Ray, and Chris for the men. In the beginning everyone got to play, but very quickly it took a wrong turn for two of the men. All three girls set their sights on one man... poor Chris who was quoted in saying, "I am flattered." and "I am exhausted." Billy Ray and Phillip decided early on that they were not going to find love and Phillip even offered tips to Chris to help him along.

There were no cat fights... but it was clear the ladies were going for broke. They tried different things on their dates to stand out to the one guy they all liked. The final "revealing" came and it was no surprise the ladies all chose to SEE Chris. But true to the shows premise, dating in the dark is easier than dating when the lights are on.

Boyishly cute Chris made his choice easily. He liked Jennifer. He found she was the full package, she had looks and they were compatible sexually and emotionally... in the dark anyways. While Chris stood on the patio waiting for the girls to make their decision, it was clear he was nervous and anxiously awaiting Jennifer.

A door opened, but it was the front door and Chris watched as Sasha walked away. In her closing interview she admitted that looks were important and that she was superficial. Another door opened... but again it was the front door and Chris watched as Megan made her way down the road. In her closing interview she felt that after seeing him he would fit in with her family but not her social circle.

But Chris was okay, he was waiting for Jennifer. He waited and waited and watched as Jennifer opened the front door and left without looking back. Her thoughts after seeing him were that he looked young and that she was attracted to him in a brother sister way.

So this week it was looks that won out... no one went home with a date.
