What Are The Best Sunglasses? The Five C's To Think About

By Carrie Westengate

If you are trying to decide on the best sunglasses to buy then you will be met with a wide range to choose from, so where should you begin? Do you just go for the cheapest pair as you know you will only break them, or do you decide now is the time to get a really decent pair of designer sunglasses. Which are the best and are they worth the added money?

The five C's to think about are Comfort, Colour, Clarity, Care and Cost.

The best sunglasses for you should be comfortable and a good fit. While most sunglasses will be OK for normal everyday use, some activities may require a few extras. If you are buying for some sports, for example cycling, you will benefit from getting padded arms and nose clips as this will stop any soreness from excessive movement.

The colour of your sunglasses is a further consideration as not all colours suit every skin type or the conditions in which you may be wearing your glasses. For instance, if you are driving in really bright sunlight you will find that blue lenses will help with clarity but as an all-rounder you should consider brown lenses. Clarity can also be improved with polarised lenses that are particularly useful for pilots and fisherman.

The primary issue you must be concerned with when considering the best sunglasses is your eye care. There are too many people taking risks by not getting sufficient protection from UV rays. While there are different types of rays, all you need to worry about is making sure your sunglasses offer at least 98% (or over) protection against UV rays.

Now for one of the biggy, how much will the best sunglasses cost you? If you are happy with a $5 pair because you usually sit on them, so be it. However, do not expect your $5 ones to compare in any way with the more expensive designer ones such as Oakley or Electric sunglasses. The reason the designer sunglasses are priced as they are, is not simply because they are designer ones. These glasses are of a higher quality that has evolved over years of technological research and quality control systems. The old adage applies here, "you get what you pay for"!

Now you have the five Cs to consider for the best sunglasses for you, all you need to do is go and find your ideal pair. I particularly like Electric sunglasses but there are many others to choose from and remember, even designer sunglasses can be priced fairly low.

Fashion Fall 2009 - New York Fall 2009 Fashion Week

Academy of Art University Review – New York Fashion Week Fall 2009

As they have done since 2005, graduates of San Francisco's Academy of Art University once again showed off their latest collections at the Bryant Park tents during Fashion Week. While this show usually is not as star-studded and high-profile as other shows, the talent on display rivals - and often outshines - those of more established names. This season's collections were no exception: despite a few misfires, most of the clothing on display exhibited great creativity and playfulness in design and concept, as well as attractiveness and functionality.

The show began with looks from the "Britex Fabrics Project," a collection created by third-semester students with fabrics donated by the Britex Fabrics store located in San Francisco 's Union Square shopping district.

The collections utilized materials such as houndstooth, wool crepe and mohair. But those fabrics worked against the dresses and coats, which seemed to overwhelm the models'bodies and made the overall look a bit too elaborate and distracting. Much more understated, and more successful, were the creations by Qianya Martin, whose knitted dresses used warm, earthy tones and ribbed patterns to convey a pleasing simplicity of form. Heather Howard and Cat Janky's collection included ankle-length dresses inspired by photographs of 19th century American life.

Taking the most chances with their designs was I-Shan Liou and Myoung Hee Kim, who created a collection which combined many different elements - checkered patterns, zigzag lines, bold swaths of blue - into a surprisingly serene balance. Emily Melville and Ivanka Georgieva's subtle and coolly elegant fashions were also very impressive. Aesthetically, this collection was the most striking and memorable.

Looking hot in your Bikini

by Stacey Logan

Among the most common swimwear for women is the bikini. Many women opt to wear bikinis at the beach or by the pool in order to flaunt their bodies. Others wear bikinis to get an even tan. Regardless of what intentions or reasons you may have for wanting one, there definitely is the perfect bikini available for you.

The bikini is exciting to wear because it leaves little to the imagination. These two piece outfits only cover your modesty. A bikini top to cover your breasts and a bikini bottom to cover your, well bottom!

The Brazilian bikini is one of the more daring bikinis you can wear. These skimpy outfits tend to sit lower on the hips and don't provide as much coverage as other bikinis. These bikinis, as the name suggests, originate from Brazil but seeing women on beaches all over the world in a Brazilian bikini is now common place.

The haltered bikini is ideal for you if you have nice shoulders and a beautiful back as they help show these off. The haltered bikini has a short top that is held in place by tying either around the neck or the back. Ideal for flaunting your back and shoulders.

There are many choices of bikini for you if you are proud of your body. So make sure you get the right bikini that truly shows off your figure.

Skin Tips for a Beautiful Tan

By Tammy Worthington

Tanning booths are now a regular method to ensure people in 'sun poor' countries can have that all over tan every day of the year. Interestingly, during recent years, a number of alternative methods have started to become popular owing to the rise in skin cancer. Spray tanning is the latest of these and is becoming very popular as a safe method which produces excellent results without the danger. Although bronzing agents have been around for many years, they tend to leave streak marks unless professionally applied.

In an effort to win even more followers, spray tanning manufacturers have developed systems where you can apply the tan at home. While there are different ways to provide an alternative tan, the way to achieve it and make it longer lasting are the same. Cleaning the dead skin off your body is the most important step using a proprietary exfoliation scrub which can be bought from any drugstore. What you don't want is for people to recognize your tan is a fake by noticing paler patches of skin where the dead skin cells have dropped from your body.

Once this process is complete, it is advisable to prepare your skin further by applying a moisturizing cream (or lotion) to it which will make the agent easier to apply. Always, always, always wear disposable surgical gloves when applying a self tanning cream etc. To avoid any other application mistakes that could give away the fact that the tan is not real, make sure those fingers, feet, elbows and knees are only given the lightest of coats as they have a habit of coming out darker. If you are using a spray tanning method then you will need an old towel to wipe any excess fluid away to stop streaking.

Always stay as still as possible after artificial tanning to allow time for the application to settle down and create an even coating.

These agents are notoriously good at marking clothing once they have been applied so you are advised to be careful how soon you get ready afterwards and what you intend to wear. The best advice here is to have a change of clothing that is darker than the color of the tan as this way it will not notice. Armed with this information it should be easier to have a fake tan that is safe and available all year round without anyone knowing what it is you are doing.
